Jellyfish stings are painful and last three to five hours leaving itching and red welts for days. The tentacles of jellfish contain toxin-carrying nematocysts, and when the tentacles come in contact with flesh, they can release millions of these pointed, corkscrew nematocysts. Some of the nematocysts deposited on the surface of the skin fire immediately, penetrating the skin and releasing toxins causing intense pain. The victim often then rubs the affected area, which causes even more nematocysts to trigger and fire into the skin.
Coastal Solutions has patented a solution that really does work in alleviating the pain of jellyfish stings. They enlisted the help of two marine biologists from Skidaway Institute of Oceanography who conducted months of detailed and carefully designed studies to determine human responses to various treatments for the stings of commonly occurring nuisance jellyfish such as sea nettles and sea wasps. They tested numerous products on themselves and volunteers, using blind studies where the person stung by the jellyfish did not know the identity or composition of the products. Along with JELLYFISH SQUISH, they compared a variety of pain relief medications that had been used in other applications such as insect stings, synthetic chemical products and a host of home remedies that are anecdotally thought to provide relief from jellyfish stings (ammonia, meat tenderizer, alcohol, urea, vinegar and baking soda).
The results clearly documented that topical pain and skin irritation due to stings from both sea nettles and sea wasps rapidly disappeared (within 3-5 minutes) when treated with Jellyfish Squish (patent pending).
Jellyfish Squish is available in 4 ounce spray bottles.
